Google announces updated Gmail app for iOS

Gmail app for iOS is like a web-app instead of a proper native one like the Mail App on iOS. Nevertheless, it is said to have all the features of a native app and is faster.

Google has released a native Gmail app for Apple iOS devices iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. This new edition of Gmail app has more features than the earlier version on Apple App Store did.
The original Gmail app for iOS was released earlier this month but suffered from performance issues and was hence pulled back.
Gmail app for iOS is like a web-app instead of a proper native one like the Mail App on iOS. Nevertheless, it is said to have all the features of a native app and is faster. The Gmail app offers threaded conversation view for emails and supports notifications better.
Menu items can be accessed by sliding the interface panel from left to right to reveal — Inbox, Chats, Drafts, Sent Mail, Label etc. The app allows users to add a star or label and report spam.
By default the app fits text as well as images. The Gmail app will work on devices running iOS 4.0 or higher and the old Gmail app needs to be uninstalled before the latest one can be used.
There is contact auto-complete support in the app and one can also add images as attachments. The app also looks sleek.
In future updates to this app we can expect to see multiple account support, mobile signatures, and better notifications. As of now Google hasn't said when the update will be rolled out.
