World's slimmest smartphone Gionee Elife S5.5 hits India
Gionee's Elife S5.5, which is just 5.5 mm thick and thus currently holds the title of world's slimmest smartphone, is now available in India for Rs.22,999.
The Gionee Elife S5.5 has a 5 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with full HD resolution. Like other Gionee smartphones, it too comes with Android-based Amigo OS which is a heavily customised version of Android. Unlike the orthodox Android user interface where there is a home screen and a menu screen, here there is only a home screen.
The Gionee Elife S5.5 is armed with an octa-core 1.7 GHz processor and 2 GB of RAM. As of now only one model of the phone with 16 GB internal storage has been announced which does not have any micro SD card slot
The handset has a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. Besides, there is a 2,300 mAh non removable battery in the phone
For connectivity, this 3G smartphone (with 42 Mbps download speed) comes with WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and a micro USB port with USB on-the-go feature that would enable users to directly connect it with an external storage device like a pen drive via a 'male micro USB to female full USB' cable

World’s largest bus carries 256 passengers
AutoTram® Extra Grand is developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Traffic and Infrastructure Systems. Considered as the longest bus in the world, it is nearly 31 meters long, has four steering axles and can carry 256 passengers. Combining the capacity of a small train with the maneuverability of a bus, the vehicle runs mostly on electric power.
The AutoTram Extra Grand is is the longest bus in the world and is nearly 101ft long.
The multi-unit vehicle with rubber tires is more than 30 meters long and has a capacity of 256 passengers
The AutoTram® Extra Grand demonstrates a future-oriented technology for public transport
As an intermediate public transport vehicle, it combines features of conventional buses and advantages of trams.
Features such as high flexibility, low infrastructure costs and moderate life cycle costs.
Added advantages of trams like high transport capacity, driving comfort and the possibility of partial emission-free operation.
It has been developed and constructed within the research program Innovative Regionale Wachstumskerne, which was initiated by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
The AutoTram® technology is based on a vehicle concept developed by the Fraunhofer IVI, combining the advantages of rail and road-bound transport systems.
So far, the concept had only been used for research purposes, but is now applied in practice.
The innovative public transport vehicle has been developed in joint research with the Institute of Electrical Power Engineering, TU Dresden, and Wittur Electric Drive GmbH.
Wittur Electric Drive GmbH wwas in charge of developing the high efficient drive engines, as well as the Dresden-based M&P motion and control.
Power electronics GmbH contributed power electronics, the vehicle computer and super capacitors.
The Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe (DVB) AG were responsible for consulting in transportation and traffic sciences.
The type approval was carried out by the DEKRA and the AutoTram® Extra Grand was constructed by bus manufacturer Göppel Bus GmbH in Thüringen.
The premiere of the world’s longest bus attracted many visitors and press and Beijing and Shanghai have already placed orders.

The World's Largest Cruise Ship: Allure of the Seas
Taller than Nelson's Column, longer than four football grounds, owned and operated by Royal Caribbean International - MS Allure of the Seas is the world's largest cruise ship. Together with her sister ship, Oasis of the Seas, she holds the record for the largest passenger ship ever constructed. The Allure is just 50 millimetres (2.0 in) longer than the Oasis, making her technically the largest despite the fact that both ships have identical superstructures.
