This holiday season will see the sales of tablets soaring as most families are expected to buy the gadget as a gift.
Amazon Fire HD: The perfect budget device for those that want to browse and consume rather than get overly creative or productive. Amazon’s tablets are getting better every year and, at $99, even though you’ll be locked into Amazon’s smaller ecosystem of apps and services and the fact that the screen is just 6 high definition inches in size, the Fire HD 6 is hard to beat in terms of price and performance.
The Nexus 9: This is the best Nexus tablet ever built which means it’s also one of the best Android tablets ever created. Its squarer screen makes it better than past devices for multitasking and for doing things other than watching films and the build quality and attention to detail are also a serious step up. It’s also incredibly fast thanks to a phenomenal processor. The only criticism is that there’s no SD card expansion slot.
New Lenovo YOGA Tablet 2 Pro: Developed with help from US actor Ashton Kutcher, the Lenovo is as focused on entertainment as much as working on the fly. It actually has a 'hang’ setting which means the device can be fixed to a wall like a small TV so that everyone can see the 1-inch QHD screen. What’s more it also has an integrated projector for creating a mini cinema. It’s also the world’s first tablet with an integrated subwoofer for better sound.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 3: It’s third time lucky for the Surface Pro. The latest version comes the closest yet to really combining all of the best elements of a notebook with those of a tablet. It’s phenomenally well made and can run desktop applications. The pen input brings an extra dimension to design and graphics work. But that flexibility comes at a premium – the entry-level model is over $700 and comes with some limitations, it can only run Windows apps

Despite a 10.1-inch screen and a pretty large bezel, it only weighs 426g. The company has paid as much attention to how it looks as to how it performs and so it feels like a quality product and one worth the price tag even if the display isn’t quite as impressive as those on Samsung or Apple tablets.
iPad Mini 3: Like its bigger brother, the iPad Mini is in a class of its own. If you are looking for a premium quality tablet where the only compromise is on size then there really isn’t anything on the market that can compete. It has a 64-bit processor, a great 7.9-inch Retina display and an integrated fingerprint scanner for extra security and online payments.

Samsung Electronics Co. has unveiled a smaller and cheaper version of the Galaxy S III smartphone with the same screen size as the iPhone 5. Samsung says the Galaxy S III mini features a screen measuring 4 inches diagonally, smaller than the Galaxy S III's 4.8 inch display but the same as Apple's iPhone 5, which was Apple's first upgrade of the iPhone screen size. Samsung said the mini will be launched in Europe later this month but kept mum on schedules for other countries. Samsung's German mobile shop lists the mini's price at $516 versus $711 for the cheapest S III. The mini is powered by the latest version of Android software but does not support faster fourth-generation wireless networks.

Samsung unveils new super-size Galaxy Note
Samsung took the wraps off a sequel to its popular Galaxy Note smartphone. The Galaxy Note 10.1, which went on sale in Germany and the United Arab Emirates, will soon be launched in other markets. The new Galaxy Note smartphone comes with a host of new features and is twice as wide as its predecessor and nearly the size of a tablet.
Armed with a 1.4GHz quad-core processor and 2GB RAM for enhanced performance, Galaxy Note 10.1 is designed to simplify idea capture, information access, and multi-tasking, making each easier and faster
The Galaxy Note 10.1 - powered by Google's Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) features a touchscreen which is 10.1-inches measured diagonally, considerably wider than the 5.3-inch screen of the previous Note.
Like Galaxy Note, it comes with a stylus called the 'S pen' to write notes or draw on the screen. The new version allows users to split the screen in half to view two programs at once.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 is equipped with a quad-core processor that allows users to run multiple applications faster than the previous version, which had a dual-core processor.
The device also includes a 5-megapixel main camera and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 comes equipped with the S Note, which is a unique tool that gives users the ability to combine notes and sketches with other digital content in ready-to-use templates.
Featuring its advanced 6.5mm 'S' Pen, Galaxy Note 10.1 is optimized for the creation of personalized and expressive content. The S Pen’s feel and functionality are specifically designed for an optimal experience on the 10.1-inch screen
Several other features have been added to Galaxy Note 10.1 including Smart Stay, which tracks the user’s eyes to ensure that the screen is always on while being looked at, and Pop Up Play, which allows the user to watch a video anywhere on their screen while simultaneously running other tasks.
The AllShare Play feature enables users to share content with a large group in real-time by connecting GALAXY Note 10.1 to Samsung HD TVs, mobile tablets, laptops, and other consumer electronic devices on the same network. With AllShare Group Cast, users can also share and collaborate on documents, presentations, or images without loading the files separately
The Galaxy Note 10.1 comes in three connectivity options: a WiFi-only version, a WiFi-and-3G HSPA-Plus connectivity version at launch, and a WiFi-and-LTE version later this year.

Samsung Galaxy S III launched
Samsung Electronics unveiled a new top-of-the-range Galaxy smartphone in London updating the most direct rival to Apple's iPhone with a larger touch screen and more powerful processor.The new Galaxy S III model will have a 4.8 inch touch screen, 8 megapixel camera and will use the latest version of Google's Android (Ice Cream Sandwich)

The South Korean technology group, which overtook Finnish company Nokia as the world's biggest cellphone maker earlier this year, said the new Galaxy SIII model would go on sale in some markets in late May and around the world from June.
Last week, Samsung reported a record $5.2 billion (3.2 billion pounds) quarterly profit, boosted by Galaxy smartphone range whose sales outstripped the iPhone.Samsung sold around 45 million smartphones in the first quarter and contributed most of its operating profit.
The new Galaxy SIII model will have a 4.8 inch touch screen, 8 megapixel camera and will use the latest version of Google's Android software.Analysts said the expected massive marketing campaign and features of the handset - billed as the official smartphone of the London 2012 Olympics - were likely enough to generate strong sales, but the launch left many of them unexcited.
"It is not an eye-catching device that will overwhelm consumers," said IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo.The blue lights in the launch venue downtown London, echoing the cold rainy day outside, and the background sounds of nature, which Samsung said inspired the design, resulted in a fairly muted atmosphere in the room

With a 4.8” HD Super AMOLED display, the GALAXY S III offers a large and vivid viewing experience. Samsung Mobile’s heritage Super AMOLED display even enhances to HD and 16:9 wider viewing angles. To ensure faster content sharing and connectivity, the GALAXY S III offers Wi-Fi Channel Bonding which doubles the Wi-Fi bandwidth
The GALAXY S III also sports a range of additional features that boost performance and the overall user experience in entirely new ways. It introduces ‘Pop up play,’ a feature that allows you to play a video anywhere on your screen while simultaneously running other tasks, eliminating the need to close and restart videos when checking new emails or surfing the Web
Its 8MP camera features a zero-lag shutter speed that lets you capture moving objects easily without delay – the image you see is the picture you take. With the ‘Burst shot’ function that instantly captures twenty continuous shots, and the ‘Best photo’ feature that selects the best of eight photographs for you, the GALAXY S III ensures users a more enhanced and memorable camera experience
HD video can be recorded even with the 1.9MP front-facing camera, which you can use to capture a video of yourself. Improved backside illumination further helps to eliminate blur in photos that result from shaking, even under low lights
Mobile payment is also accessible with the device through advanced Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. The gaming experience is enhanced through ‘Game Hub,’ providing access to numerous social games, while Video Hub brings users high quality TV and movies. Furthermore, Samsung Music Hub will offer a personal music streaming service. Game Hub, Video Hub and Music Hub will be introduced in select countries initially and soon rolled out to global markets.
The Samsung GALAXY S III will be available from the end of May in Europe before rolling out to other markets globally
