Maruti launches the 2012 A-Star


Maruti’s snatches back its market share in small cars with the new revamped A-Star with better interiors and more colour options.

SPICED-UP A-STAR 
Maruti Suzuki India’s premier export model A-Star takes a reincarnation. The changes based on customer feedback ‘seek to enhance the look, feel and comfort’. Presented as Suzuki’s fifth World Strategic Model and produced exclusively at the Manesar plant, A-Star turned out to be the flagship export model that sold 3.81 lakh units, of which 2.81 lakhs were by export primarily to the Europe, Australia and South Africa

Power with Economy
High fuel efficiency, low emissions, powerful drive and affordable cost are key factors that woo buyers to the A-star. Running of petrol, the car gives 19 kmpl, as per test reports from ARAI Pune. The 998 cc K10B engine gives 67 ps @ 6200 rpm and torque of 90Nm @ 3500 rpm. This serves for easily negotiating the meddlesome traffic of the cities. The base model is priced at Rs. 3.67 lakhs; the premium model with ABS and Airbags costs just Rs. 4.23 lakhs.

Modifications 
• Completely revamped interiors- premium and sporty upmarket upholstery
• Introduced 50-50 rear split seats to enhance user convenience and storage space
• Integrated rear spoiler for sportiness
• Front seat head restraints reworked to give more spacious feeling
• ABS and Airbags now available as an optional for the customers
• New alloys wheels 
• Two new colours Pearl Caffeine Brown, Metallic Glistening Grey

Youth Icon; It Runs Automatic Too 
Strategically positioned for the young and energetic, the brand A-star has come a long way in establishing itself as a youth icon. The completely revamped interior has a smart interplay of colors. The dual `grey and beige’ interiors complimented by rich beige upholstery, are refreshing and new for the segment. To strengthen its position and enhance its drivability, the Company had introduced an automatic variant of the A-star, which now accounts for almost 1/3 rd of A-Star sales.

Awards & Accolades 
Maruti Suzuki A-star is one of the most awarded cars from Maruti Suzuki India; it bagged the `Car of the Year’ felicitation from leading auto magazines, Topgear, Zigwheels and Autocar. It was also rated `Most Fuel Efficient Car in the World’ by Global Green Challenge Australia, ‘2nd Most Environmental Friendly Car’ by VCD Germany and also won the ‘Total Customer Satisfaction Award’ in 2009-10, 2010-11.

The Spiced-Up A-Star is available in two new colours: Glistening Grey and Pearl Caffeine Brown. All the five colour variants of the original edition are also available: Paradise Blue, Bright Red, Pearl Arctic White, Silky Silver, Midnight Black
